Who's going to this? Anyone excited?

I love the idea of going to a summer music festival and camping out and jamming with a bunch of metallers. I'd be keen as if not for the fact it's on NYE and I'm obliged (and want to) to spend that special moment with my lovely lady in some kind of serene enviornment with trees and sparkling water views.

Not sure about the lineup either, I love Decortica and Of Blackest Oceans. In Dread Response are pretty neat. But I think it needs some 'BIG DEAL' bands that will excite the masses to really make it worth people travelling from around the country to see. I hope some (or even just one) awesome big name band(s) are announced, because I'd like to see this thing become a success.

Check out the website, nothing like this has been done in NZ before, will it be awesome?

For the first time in New Zealand’s rich musical history, some of the best local, national and international rock & metal acts will come together to celebrate New Year 2012 at New Zealand’s newest and heaviest festival – Beyond the Black.

Beyond the Black is proud to announce the final addition to the line-up, Rock Legends - HEAD LIKE A HOLE.
Having completed a nationwide tour, risqué rockers Head Like a Hole have received nothing short of glowing reviews for their new album Blood Will Out. Debuting at number 8 in the New Zealand music charts and number 1 on New Zealand iTunes, it’s been their best selling album to date. They’ve just blown the cobwebs out of other New Zealand’s cities - with darker and heavier sounds than most other bands dare - and they’re saving the best for last, a stenchy New Year’s Eve show - Beyond the Black. With industry professionals claiming Head Like a Hole have produced their finest work to date in the 11 tracks of Blood Will Out, their live performance only takes these songs to new heights. Roaring guitars, pounding drums, brutal bass, all backing up Booga who prowls the stage like an unleashed beast - it’s a performance not to be missed! Saving their most brutal show for the end of the year, Head Like a Hole will be on their home turf of the Hutt City this New Year’s Eve and that’s something to celebrate. In the meantime, get your ears tuned to their singles Swagger of Thieves and Glory Glory, and once you have the whole album “Blood Will Out” in your hot little hands, you’ll want to listen to the album again and again.

Beyond the Black is to be held at Trentham Race Course, which is just a 30 minutes drive from Wellington city. Easy to access by car (we offer to all patrons a free secure car park), bus and train; getting yourself there will be simple.
The festival venue is a world class purpose built venue that patrons will find moving through a pleasure. Patron safety is a top priority at Beyond the Black. We have Red Badge providing solid security, plus Wellington Free Ambulance running the Safe Zone and medical care. This venue is built for hosting very large crowds; the bars are fully equipped to service your needs rapidly. Beyond the Black staff will be continuously on patrol to keep the venue clean and rubbish free. And ladies you will be happy to know we have great bathroom facilities, so every aspect of your visit will be a pleasurable one!
Tickets are just $50! On sale at http://www.1-night.co.nz. You will be amazed at how much bang you get for your buck at Beyond the Black.
Next 50 on-line ticket buyers go in the draw to win one of three prize packs: double GA pass to Beyond the Black, a HLAH tee and album.

Who went to this? Looks like it went well.

If I had one suggestion for the next one to help catch my interest, it'd be: get some doom metal in there.
