New logo for my band. I came up with the idea about 3 years ago.

Hahahaa!

Precisely why steer completely clear of fonts like that! Chances are 100,000 bands with a computer and the same idea. (Plus the fact that I want people to actually GO to the shows that I do posters for, a simple and readable font is all that is required)

^^ Yip. They've been PSD files as long as I've been using Photoshop. And I go back to version 3.

It's quite pleasing to the eye that one, like the texture blending. It's got a real "feeling" about it - which is what art should do. Well done!

Not sure what your gripes might be!

I have to confess - I'm not a fan of decayed fonts because they never look naturally decayed. Both "E's" look the same, so it doesn't look like the text has naturally decayed. I prefer to munt the text myself, but that's just me, and it's a very, very minor gripe in the scheme of things.

Did you cut any corners with clipping the edges of the clock? (pun not intended!)

Keep up the good work!

Yep you got it right, mainly the font (which i can never be fucked decaying myself or even putting in the effort of finding a suitable one to decay) and haha yeap, literally cut corners cutting out that gear,

I highly recommend using the pen tool for cutting out curves (and getting acquianted with how clipping paths work). It's time-consuming, but you get good (and faster) at it with practice, and gives that extra professional polish than just hacking away at edges with the eraser, wand or lassoo tools. Plus you retain the freedom to edit the nodes if you fuck it up.

I always use a clipping mask :P. But yeah was guilty of using the brush through lazyness. I would usually use the lasso tool tho with intense zoom usually isnt to bad, but I'm well familiar with Paths, so yeah prob is a real good idea to use them for getting a clean cut!
