After nearly four decades of performing, veteran heavy metal group Judas Priest has announced that its 2011 world tour will be its last.

Eight initial dates have been announced for the farewell tour, all of which are rock festivals in Europe. A message posted on the band's web site confirms that the full trek will be "hitting all the major cities throughout the world," and that more dates will be issued soon.

After arriving with debut album "Rocka Rolla" in 1974, the U.K. group -- whose current lineup includes singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis -- released head-banging classics like "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" and "Living After Midnight." Judas Priest's 16th studio album, 2008's "Nostradamus," has sold 122,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Here are the initial dates for Judas Priest's 2011 farewell tour:

June 9, 2011: Sweden (Sweden Rock Festival)
June 11, 2011: Finland (Sauna Festival)
June 17, 2011: Copenhagen, Denmark (Copenhell Festival)
June 19, 2011: Nantes, France (Hellfest)
June 22, 2011: Milan, Italy (Gods of Metal Festival)
June 25, 2011: Belgium (Graspop Festival)
July 23, 2011: London, UK (High Voltage Festival)
August 5, 2011: Germany (Wacken Festival)

Nothing even close to NZ. but many will probably get a chance to see there last show in germany "VVacken"

Remarkable story as always....

Well they definitely need to play out of Europe for it to even resemble a "world tour". That wasn't even considered the world 2000 years ago.

Heh, it beats the term "NZ tour"... which usually means two north island shows :D

Good score on the poster Rob!

Poor ol Halford, it must suck to have your voice age so badly. Some of the bootleg shit I've seen is just sad.
